How important is college football to American politics?

After seeing this article in the NY Times, we ran a poll yesterday to find out.

We asked "How have the cancellations of the Big 10 and Pac-12 college football seasons (and potentially other conferences) affected your decision to vote for President Trump?

With nearly 5,000 responses collected from a group of randomly selected online survey participants, a whopping 24% said they aren't going to vote for Trump anymore because of it. About the same number (25%) said they didn't care and would still vote for him anyway, and the remainder said they weren't planning on voting for him to begin with (28%) or decided to skip the question.

Whether you agree with it or not, our survey showed that the cancellation of college football can, indeed, have a major impact on the upcoming election, especially in historically "swing states" like Ohio.

The survey conducted for this What If Media Group snap poll was conducted online within the United States on August 13, 2020 among 4,985 American adults.

Respondents were randomly selected and the findings are at a 99% confidence level with a margin of error +/- 1.5%.

What If Media Group's proprietary ad serving technology includes a real-time survey module that was used to facilitate the data collection for this study. Data was weighted to US Census 2010 population distribution.
